After owning our Bakery for 11 years, we decided it was time to sell; but knowing that this type of business has become a rarity in today’s society, we knew there was potential for the sale to be a difficult one. As first-time business owners, we wanted someone hard-working and professional who we could trust to take this on and achieve a result we were content with. A local real estate put us in touch with Sage Business Sales, where Mark took on the sale of the business with enthusiasm. It didn’t take long for an offer to be made and Mark worked diligently to ensure the sale went through.

I can highly recommend Mark Petersen of Sage Business Sales as a business broker to anyone who is considering selling their business.
Mark has been selling businesses for many years and his experience shows in the way he handled the sale of my business from my initial phone enquiry right through to getting the final signature to close the deal. Mark’s background in banking gave me confidence in his ability to rigorously qualify any prospective buyers, ensuring they were genuinely interested and appropriately funded to ensure no-one’s time was being wasted by parties not fully committed to the purchase. Less than a week after listing my business, we had a genuine offer on the table and were able to move forward with confidence and momentum. At the same time, Mark was able to keep at least a couple of other interested parties “warm” on the side, in the event that things fell through with the first potential buyer.
Mark did a great job of leading the buyer through the various stages of the process, at the same time keeping me fully updated as to the progress and keeping me on target with what needed to be done on my side. Being a sale that involved assignment of a lease introduced additional complexities and a more drawn-out timeframe, but Mark was instrumental in keeping everyone on point – and positive – despite occasional curveballs and delays. In what can be a stressful and challenging period, it is good to have the calm influence of someone such as Mark who has been through it all many times before.
I should mention that I first met Mark when I was on the other side of the fence – he was the broker acting for the owners of the business that I purchased. Given the good experience I had with Mark at that time, thirteen years later when I wanted to sell the business, I am very happy that I made the call to him to broker the sale for me. Mark is upfront and genuine, he has always acted in an ethical and professional manner in my dealings with him, and he clearly understands how to present a business in its best light and take prospective buyers along the journey from initial interest to a done deal.
